Empowering Early Adolescents With Emotional Skills Through The EASE Program

Adolescence is a critical stage for emotional development, yet many young people in our community face significant barriers to specialized mental healthcare . The Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions (EASE) program is an evidence-based group intervention developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) specifically for 10–15-year-olds facing adversity . EASE focuses on four core strategies: “Understanding My Feelings,” “Calming My Body” (using slow breathing), “Changing My Actions” (behavioural activation), and “Managing My Problems” (problem-solving) .

At Nafs Healing, we implement the EASE program to equip our youth with the tools they need to navigate identity conflicts, school stress, and social anxiety . A unique aspect of EASE is the inclusion of caregiver sessions, ensuring that the child’s home environment is supportive of their mental health journey . By training young people to identify their emotions and solve problems independently, we build a foundation of resilience that lasts into adulthood . This program is about empowering the next generation of our Ummah to reach their full potential and live a balanced life .
